Estoy feliz de esta excelente y única oportunidad que me ofrecen y más aún por el desarrollo personal y profesional que voy a lograr de esta nueva experiencia en mi vida.

Postulé en Marzo del 2005, sabiendo que era solo 1 beca para Latino América y que el programa para el MIB empezaba el 18 de Julio. Exactamente 1 mes antes me llega un email de titulo Congratulations! Me quedé helada no sabía si era cierto, llamé a mi mamá para que leyera y me asegure lo que había leído. Realmente me emocioné muchísimo ya que en esa fecha ya no lo esperaba.

De un día a otro, ya estaba preparando maletas para volar al otro lado del continente.

Ahora estoy súper ansiosa de comenzar y la experiencia que obtenga se las contaré al terminar el MIB.
Espero representar muy bien a Macquarie University y dejar muy bien el nombre de Latino Australia Education por el excelente apoyo y guía que me dieron desde el día que los conocí.

Para para mi y mi esposo era muy importante escribir agradeciendo a Latinoaustralia toda la ayuda prestada para lograr este sueno que fue venir para Australia.

La agencia fué el puente que nos unió con mas de 15.000 km de distancia y con una posibilidad espectacular de continuar nuestro desarrollo profesional y personal. Actualmente ya Alejandro terminó su curso de ingles y a mi me quedan 4 semanas. Si dios quiere, aprobando el curso actual que estoy cursando (English for Business) entro directo a la Universidad y no tengo que presentar el IELTS de nuevo.

El curso ha sido muy bueno, ya que es bastante exigente y realmente te preparan para entrar en la Universidad, ya que enseñan como es la cultura académica de Australia, los trabajos, las presentaciones y demas. Por la ciudad, estamos encantados...Sydney es espectacular, ya que es una ciudad súper moderna en el medio de una bahía... donde volteas siempre hay algo bello que ver. La calidad de vida es muy alta y sobre todo la seguridad que se siente es increíble. Muchísimas gracias de nuevo...un beso grande desde Australia.

Hola como están pues les escribo de volada!!!!....de volada de paraguas que me han tocado en estos últimos días!!! pues ha caído un diluvio de aquellos por dos días seguidos, pero ya el clima se ha estado componiendo muchísimo aunque sigue haciendo mucho aire y eso hacia que el paraguas se me volara como 4 veces y tener que ir por el y hubieran visto como me reí como hace mucho no lo hacia con el paraguas y lo peor es que no solo me reía de mi sino de toda la gente!! imagínense a unos chinos de mi escuela con el paraguas volando o verlos cruzando la calle del colegio y dejar la chanclita a media calle! jajaja todo un espectáculo!!! yo estaba en el suelo!! jaja jajaj ja ajaj

Pues que les cuento que estoy muy muy bien en la escuela la verdad que todo se esta tornando mas difícil pues antes de mi Master debo de tomar este curso de ingles con Propósitos Académicos y hay que escribir ensayos, reportes, todo con nivel académico, y si esta un poco complicado pero no imposible, además hay muchas asesoráis y clases de gramática.

En mi homestay estoy muy bien la comida no falta al contrario, todo muy rico aunque de vez en cuando me voy a la ciudad y como comida Tailandesa o Comida China, me falta probar la comida Vietnamita y estoy buscando un buen restaurante de comida Mexicana.

La ciudad que les puedo decir esta increíble de verdad que es una ciudad del primer mundo, con su tren de dos pisos que comunica toda la ciudad y los suburbios, en la ciudad además hay un tranvía como el de San Francisco pero está muy muy moderno y también hay una trail-rail elevado como el de Epcot Center que va a los puntos principales de la ciudad y eso le da un toque futurista a la ciudad como en ningun otro lugar.

Hay unos parques enormes y preciosos que en las noches los árboles están iluminados que parece que es navidad pero NO! así están todo el tiempo no me imagino cuando sea Navidad, ver el Opera House y el Harbor Bridge es una maravilla tanto de noche como de día... aunque de día se ven mas espectaculares y como que de noche yo los vi mas pequeños. También este fin de semana estuve paseando y turisteando por ahí y mientras caminaba por una plaza muy bonita afuera de una Iglesia, me llamó la atención que en esa plazuela hay un centro deportivo acuático con una alberca olímpica, al parecer ahí entrenan los seleccionados Olímpicos, como Ian Thorpe que por cierto es una dios aca en Australia con decirles que hasta una colección de joyas finas ya le sacaron, bueno pues mientras caminas tu puedes ver la alberca y ver la gente que esta nadando abajo de ti por tiene unos tragaluces que le dan la luz natural a la alberca, osea tu vas caminando y volteas hacia abajo y va gente nadando abajo de ti! eso es lago que me impacto, además que hay albercas de tamaño olímpico en cada esquina, que por cierto no habia nadado en una hasta el lunes pasado y casi me ahogo!! jajajaj

La vida nocturna de la ciudad es impresionante gente por todos lados!! la gente australiana es muy amigable con decirles que ya tengo amigos australianos! uno de ellos trabaja en Real State que es Bienes Raíces y el fin pasado nos fuimos a Bondi Beach en su A4! Bondi Beach es la playa de Sydney por excelencia es donde van y viven los famosos, yo fui de noche y no había mucha gente no he tenido la oportunidad de ir de día, pero por lo que se oye eso es algo que debe de verse, pues ahí es donde están los surfeadores, los artistas, osea de todo, la playa no es muy grande es muy pequeña pero es una bahía muy bonita, el verano se acerca y pues habrá que ver como se pone eso no? ya les contare... por cierto que la ciudad si tiene un clima muy cambiante y si debo de admitirlo que si te mueres de frío!! bueno yo me congele este sábado y eso que solo estuvimos a 17 C.... también les cuento que fui a un festival latino que hubo en Darling Harbour, que es un lugar hermoso, es como no se... como explicarlo, pero es entre una plaza, un centro de convenciones, bares, restaurantes, hay de todo y esta en el mar, y ahí hubo un festival latino que desde mi punto de vista no fue nada bueno o será que me estaba muriendo de frío y no había con quien bailar por que con la japonesa que iba como que no tenia ritmo...jejejeje

Pero fuera de eso todo ha estado muy bien, la próxima semana será el Sydney Motor Show y pues creo que me daré una vuelta por ahí, si! todavía no voy a los museos ni a los demás lugares por visitar por que apenas me estoy acoplando...por cierto ya tengo mi permiso de trabajo y lo mas seguro es que empiece a trabajar la próxima semana solo puedo trabajar 20 horas a la semana entonces habrá que buscar algo que hacer por que aunque no crean a veces es medio aburridillo y pues unos dolarcillos no caerían nada mal.

Ya les estaré contando de lo demás, por ahora tengo que huir por que tengo que entregar un reporte para mañana!! Les mando muchos saludos y espero que todo este muy bien por allá por que por acá estoy muy bien.

"El programa de audio engineering me ha gustado mucho porque es muy practico, van a lo que van, si uno quiere aprender a grabar, mezclar, masterizar, etc., todo lo relacionado con la musica y postpodruccion se aprende aca.
Es un poco acelerado, pero para los trabajos importantes como grabaciones te dan bastante tiempo. el tiempo en los estudios es "ilimitado", si uno quiere puede estar todo el dia en los estudios, con tal de que no alla nadie ahi"

Hacer parte de una institución con un nivel académico ejemplar como la Universidad de La Trobe. De nuevo muchísimas gracias por el asesoramiento y la atención prestada a todo el proceso para realizar mis estudios en Australia. "Bueno un saludo bien grande desde Melbourne. Al principio le da a uno duro porque todo es nuevo para uno, pero todo me ha salido superbien: vivo en una casa que parece un hotel porque vivo como con 20 estudiantes, la mayoría son asiáticos pero también hay uno de Venezuela, Holanda, Noruega, Bélgica, Corea, Malasia etc.. Cada uno tiene su propio cuarto con baño, escritorio, cama, y armarios. Todos compartimos la cocina que es siempre grande como con 7 neveras, 3 estufas, 2 hornos y alacena con llave para cada uno. La renta es un poco costosa, pero igual le dan todo lo que necesite como olla para hacer el arroz, cafeteras, sartenes etc... Ahora ya llevo mas de un mes acá y ya me estoy amañando, fui el domingo a ver Montoya y me di cuenta que aquí en Australia hay una cantidad de colombianos, unos están en Tasmania y otros venían desde S Bueno, les agradezco muchisísimo por la ayuda para poder llegar acá, esto es una experiencia única y quisiera que todo el mundo pudiera venir... Muchas gracias again!!! Además en el curso hay otros dos colombianos pero están en otro salón, eso es bueno porque si no me pongo a hablar en español y no aprendo inglés

Este país es muy interesante por la diversidad de culturas que viven acá; no solo en la universidad, sino en toda la ciudad, Canberra es una ciudad pequeña pero enorme en extensión y es verdad que esta rodeada de jardines y árboles que hacen al lugar mucho mas tranquilo de lo que parece, en realidad parece un enorme parque. Te cuento que pese a que no hablo 100% el ingles, no tengo mayor problema en hacerme entender con los demás, me facilito mucho conocer a otros muchachos del continente que vive acá: lo bueno es que puedes practicar el ingles todo el día con gente de tu clase y otros compañeros de la universidad que viven en los alojamientos. A propósito mañana (domingo) me cambio de residencia y me voy a las residencias de la universidad a un lugar llamado Told Hall o algo parecido, este lugar queda al lado de la universidad y vive gente de otros países, principalmente de mi edad que esta haciendo o que va a empezar la maestría.

La Trobe, es una Universidad organizada, y con mucho espacio natural para estudiar y relajar tensiones, ya que posee un campus lleno de plantas y un lago. Las clases son full time, mis profesores son muy animados y dedicados, me gusta la forma como planifican las clases y como apoyan las necesidades individuales. Tenemos a disposición el ELC, que es la biblioteca para seguir aprendiendo fuera de las horas de clase, así como algunas clases son electivas sobre música australiana, grammar games, culture, entre otras.

"Ya comencé las clases y me ha ido súper bien, estoy en un nivel intermedio alto y en 3 semanas me cambio al curso de propósitos académicos para comenzar mi preparación para el examen !!! El curso es súper dinámico y tengo una fluidez increíble, mis profes me palabra repetida tienen en un excelente concepto y la verdad creo que puedo dar mucho más!!! Les cuento que hay gente de todo el mundo, pero la mayoría son orientales, Europa, de la india, árabes e incluso varios sur y centro Americanos, es decir, de todo el mundo!!!! La verdad casi no conozco nada porque hasta ahora estoy ubicándome, pero voy muy bien!!! Sydney es una mezcla súper extraña de arquitectura de todo el mundo, cambia constantemente y no tiene características propias, sin embargo la población respeta las leyes y el orden es como el de Londres! En 15 días comienzo a vivir solo en un barrio para estudiantes súper cerca de la U de Sydney y tal ves a trabajar, porque la verdad pagan súper bien la hora y si consigo el trabajo que quiero, pues voy a tener otra buenísima entrada de dinero( Hay que aprovechar esas excelentes oportunidades!) Y en 15 días también, me voy de viaje, voy a ir a conocer Melbourne y a disfrutar como se debe de esta experiencia!!! Me gustaría contarles un poco mas pero ahora no puedo porque tengo que hacer una presentación para mañana y no he terminado, pero mas tarde les escribo y termino de contarles más cositas!!! Los profesores han sido muy útiles ynos ayudan a perfeccionar en la escritura, escucha, lectura y otras materias que el estudiante pueda necesitar. "Cuando comencé a principios de año a buscar una Universidad para continuar mis estudios en Melbourne, me sentí mareada por la cantidad de opciones disponibles en internet no sabia por cual decidirme, ya que no tenia ningún parámetro para elegir la mejor . Lo primero que hice fue un mail a cada una pidiendo información. La contestación de la Trobe fue la más rápida y hospitalaria: un mensaje en mi propio idioma, brindándome la información necesaria para comenzar el proceso de aplicación. Creo que tener a Latino Australia Education de intermediario es vital para que el interesado tenga la posibilidad de comunicase fácilmente con la Universidad, además el trato que recibí fue magnífico. Luego de terminar con los procedimientos de aplicación, que fueron arduos ya que yo estaba pidiendo crédito por los estudios terciarios realizados aquí en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, y entonces debía incluir todos los programas que había cubierto; mandé por correo-expreso los documentos. Muy rápidamente fui avisada, para mi mayor alegría que había sido aceptada. Además los créditos otorgados fueron 180 ! Lo que vino luego, respecto a la visa y los últimos arreglos los hice sin ningún inconveniente, siempre con el apoyo de Luz Adriana a quien quiero agradecer muchísimo su ayuda. A decir verdad, cuando comencé a hacer las averiguaciones para estudiar en Australia, jamás me imaginé que en seis meses estaría en la maravillosa ciudad de Melbourne terminando mi carrera de economía. Pensé que me tomaría mucho tiempo organizar todo, ya que Australia esta tan lejos de la Argentina! Pero la internet es un medio de comunicación maravilloso, siempre y cuando haya alguien dispuesto a brindarte inmediata respuesta. En este caso Latino Australia Education es el responsable de que yo esté hoy por hoy, preparando mis valijas y despidiéndome de mi familia y amigos para empezar a vivir desde el mes próximo esta experiencia que de seguro me será inolvidable."

Hola desde Fremantle Estamos muy bien, esta ciudad es muy linda y la gente nos ha tratado muy bien. En la universidad las cosas van bien, hoy entregue el formulario para ver si me eximen de otra materia (ya me eximieron de desarrollo evolutivo y ahora quiero ver si me eximen de métodos de investigación) porque ya ví esas materias en pregrado y por mucho mas del doble del tiempo que se ven acá. Estamos buscando un cuarto para cambiarnos tan pronto sea posible, porque en el homestay no nos sentimos muy cómodos (poca privacidad y vivir con los papas después de casados es como duro).De precios, la cosa es como Colombia en los sitios caros, así que no nos ha dado duro la cosa del dinero. Sandra esta juiciosa estudiando ingles y ya nos acomodamos al horario, hasta hace dos días nos dormíamos como desde las 7 de la noche y nos despertábamos a las 2 y media. Como ven, para llevar menos de una semana nos hemos acomodado rápido. Muchos saludos y seguimos en contacto.

El curso de Ingles en La Trobe University es de un nivel muy alto, lo cual me parece bueno, pero me ha mantenido ocupada. Sin embargo, he tenido la oportunidad de pasear por la ciudad y conocer hermosos lugares, especialmente playas como Saint Kilda y muchos otros sitios igualmente hermosos. En fin, este país es realmente maravilloso. La gente aquí es muy amable, tratan muy bien al extranjero independientemente del país de donde venga. Creo que hice la mejor elección al decidir venirme para Australia. Es un país espectacular y vale la pena vivir esta experiencia.

Les cuento que todo va muy bien, las notas muy buenas y esforzándome al máximo. Australia es increíble. La ciudad es divina, súper grande y moderna. Ya tengo un montón de amigos y estoy más que amarrada con los aussies. Empecé a trabajar hace un mes, es como un tipo de telemarketing y fue súper fácil conseguir la visa de trabajo. Llegue a Australia a la ciudad de Perth la semana pasada, me he sentido muy bien ya que la familia que me recibió a sido muy amable conmigo y las clases de inglés en la universidad (U.W.A) son muy agradables. Les cuento que llevo mi primera semana acá, esta haciendo un frío el tenaz. Espero que en menos de un mes se acabe el invierno, la familia me trata bien ya le pague lo del mes, son griegos, el viernes llego a la misma casa una estudiante de Vietnam. La casa me queda como a 30 minutos de la universidad, hay varios caleños por acá. Hoy acabo de llegar de hacer la vuelta del cambio de visa de estudiante a la de trabajo y en 14 días me dan el permiso. En la universidad me aconsejaron que me metiera mejor al curso de ingles académico, porque hablaba mas o menos bien, y lo que tenia que hacer era mejorar mi gramática, entonces me metí a ese curso y quede en el último nivel de pre avanzado. Luego siguen dos de avanzado y dos de altamente avanzado. No estoy tan mal.

Aquí ya es sábado, y mañana a las 9 am estaré esperando a Mario y a Claudia a las 9 am, y tranquilo que todo esto lo hago con mucho gusto, y lo seguiré haciendo mientras tenga tiempo, por que la idea es que la gente que llegue aquí reciba un poco de información en su idioma y que a lo mejor eso sirva para que tengan una primera impresión mas cálida de este país. Ya sabes que si en mis manos esta el facilitarle las cosas a alguien lo haré sin dudarlo. Bueno, pasando a lo de Luis Mario y Carolina, te cuento que eso me tienen muy contento por que la idea es que vivamos los tres juntos, además ya tendré con quien salir a turistear, así que eso me abre nuevas posibilidades aquí.

Estamos viviendo en el sur de Sydney en un suburbio llamado Sutherland. Queda aproximadamente a 30 - 40 minutos en tren de la central station y de ahí al CET de la universidad puedes gastar 30 minutos caminando o 15 minutos en bus. Vivimos en una especie de homestay con 3 colombianos. La casa es de un costarricense estamos muy cómodos y contentos acá. De todas maneras gracias por tu ayuda. vosotros para la realización de todos los trámites.

Las costumbres australianas en home son un tanto extrañas para nosotros los latinos. Yo vivo con flatmates australianos y he aprendido cosas muy interesantes en salud. Como por ejemplo que el agua de Melbourne es la mejor ciudad del país y que como sabes el agua australiana se bebe directamente de la llave. El agua de Melbourne tiene fluor y eso ayuda a la salud de la gente. Existe un cuidado muy especial con el uso de esta, por que no abunda y el proceso de filtrado es costoso. Les encanta los vegetales, aquí he podido comer todo tipo de comida desde la africana, griega y vietnamita hasta lo que se te ocurra. En verdad puedes encontrar cualquier restaurant de comidas de todas las naciones. Hasta probé la carne de canguro, que te diré que no sabe mal, solo un poco dura. Ser estudiante te ayuda a conseguir beneficios en la entrada a lugares como el museo y el cine. La playa esta muy cerca, toda muy linda, aunque ahora mucho frío y lluvia para intentar bañarse, aunque no falta la gente que no le para a eso. Como ves estoy encantada con la ciudad es una combinación maravillosa de lo antiguo (estilos victoriano y eduardiano) y lo moderno de la ciudad con toques postmodernistas. Cariños sinceros."

"Bueno un saludo bien grande desde Melbourne. Al principio le da a uno duro porque todo es nuevo para uno, pero todo me ha salido superbien: vivo en una casa que parece un hotel porque vivo como con 20 estudiantes, la mayoría son asiáticos pero también hay uno de Venezuela, Holanda, Noruega, Bélgica, Corea, Malasia etc.. Cada uno tiene su propio cuarto con baño, escritorio, cama, y armarios. Todos compartimos la cocina que es siempre grande como con 7 neveras, 3 estufas, 2 hornos y alacena con llave para cada uno. La renta es un poco costosa, pero igual le dan todo lo que necesite como olla para hacer el arroz, cafeteras, sartenes etc... Ahora ya llevo mas de un mes acá y ya me estoy amañando, fui el domingo a ver Montoya y me di cuenta que aquí en Australia hay una cantidad de colombianos, unos están en Tasmania y otros venían desde S Bueno, les agradezco muchisísimo por la ayuda para poder llegar acá, esto es una experiencia única y quisiera que todo el mundo pudiera venir... Muchas gracias again!!! Además en el curso hay otros dos colombianos pero están en otro salón, eso es bueno porque si no me pongo a hablar en español y no aprendo inglés.

Australia es un país súper chévere, la gente es amigable, encuentras estudiantes de diferentes partes del mundo y esto hace que te interrelaciones con gente internacional y aprendas costumbres de otros países, sobre otras culturas y amplíes tu repertorio de amigos. La experiencia de estudiar en Australia es muy buena, ya que primero que nada practicas el idioma ingles que es muy favorable para que tengas un ingles fluido, en cuanto a la maestría es un poco fuerte ya que te dejan muchos trabajos pero es manejable, en las clases compartes con alumnos locales como internacionales con los cuales intercambias ideas, haciendo trabajos en grupo y compartiendo momentos muy agradables y tienes después unas buenas vacaciones de aprox. un mes para conocer diferentes lugares hermosos como las playas y muchos sitios turísticos mas que son alucinantes. El servicio brindado me pareció muy bueno, aunque fue a las finales. También te facilita mucha información sobre estudios en Australia sobre las diferentes universidades brindándote muchas opciones para escoger.

Sandra, No creas que me he olvidado de ti, te mando esta foto donde salgo con mi jefa en mi trabajo como mesero los fines de semana. Hace solo cuatro meses que estoy viviendo en Melbourne y pareciera que llevara mucho mas tiempo, la universidad es espectacular, muy grande y con gente de todos los lugares del mundo. Encontrar trabajo fue muy fácil gracias a los consejos de otros que llevan más tiempo acá. Los australianos son muy abiertos y amigables, en poco tiempo me he echo de grandes amigos. Hay muchas actividades interesantes por hacer los fines de semana y una variedad de comida impresionante. Quisiera que el tiempo no pasara tan rápido, esta es y será una gran experiencia que no olvidare nunca.

Les cuento que aquí todo es chévere, la ciudad es muy linda, limpia, ordenada, todo permanece en calma, es genial. La Universidad es muy bonita, los campos son lindos, hay lago naturaleza por cada parte, tiene de todo, esta muy bien dotada. Las clases muy bien, quede en el nivel dos y he aprendido mucho, mis compañeros son japoneses, árabes, turcos, taiwaneses, tailandeses, soy el único latino en la clase,.Como he visitado muchos lugares, en los pub se practica mucho ingles y se conoce gente. El fin de semana estuve en Gold Cost, las playas son bellísimas, estuve en clases de Surfing, cheverísimo, este fin de semana hay un pase a Morenton Bay para ver las ballenas, mejo dicho me estoy dando la vida que me merezco. Les mando un abrazo desde el otro lado del mundo, y nuevamente muchas gracias por toda su ayuda.

La verdad es que no saben lo agradecido que estoy con ustedes por haber sido medios para esta aventura tan maravillosa. Australia es un lugar muy inesperado, es novedoso y gigante. Aquí he recorrido caminos interminables, lugares recónditos en la geografía para aprender a conocer esta cultura, tan oriental en su hermetismo pero tan occidental en su hospitalidad. La universidad es buena y mis expectativas académicas han sido colmadas. La ventaja del conocimiento de la lengua me ha ayudado a dominar los problemas del cambio de sistema educativo. La experiencia mas preciosa que he tenido acá fue el domingo que fui a ver al Dalia Lama que me baño con su luz y su sabiduría. Son estas las oportunidades que no tenemos en Colombia y que aquí he podido aprovechar. En realidad muchas gracias por haberme ayudado a realizar esta aventura.

Muchas gracias por tu mensaje y por las atenciones con mis padres. Yo estoy muy bien y pasando unos días increíbles en Hobart, Tas. Regrese a principios de el pasado diciembre y cada día me enamoro mas de esta hermosa y tranquila ciudad.
Wollongong fue una muy bonita experiencia donde tuve la oportunidad de dedicarme tiempo completo a mi curso y cortarle un poquito a la vida social... la universidad tiene un campus precioso y el nivel académico fue todo lo que yo esperaba y mas. Por otro lado la ciudad no me pareció gran cosa, es un poco más pequeño que Hobart y aparte de una excelente universidad y unas muy bonitas playas, no hay mucho más. Al final de cuentas eso era lo que yo tenía en mente cuando escogí ir allí.
Mi tiempo en Hobart llega a su fin de nuevo porque en dos semanas me mudo para Melbourne donde tengo mejores opciones de ubicarme en Ingeniería o mercadeo que es lo mío. Creo que no me equivoco cuando digo que en Melbourne es la única ciudad donde ofrecen Ing. Industrial aquí en Australia y dado eso, las ofertas de trabajo están concentradas allí... yo estoy seguro que al principio será difícil conseguir la oportunidad, pero soy optimista de que las cosas van a salir bien.

como estas? te cuento que yo estoy muy bien. Que bárbaro como pasa el tiempo, ya van a ser dos meses desde que llegue a Australia y que mal porque recién les escribo para contarles como me va, pero tu sabes que a veces es un poco difícil hacerlo por la hora y por la disponibilidad de las computadoras, pero bueno te cuento que estoy muy bien, la familia que me toco como homestay en muy buena, en realidad he tenido mucha suerte y hasta ahora no he tenido ningún problema por el contrario me llevo súper bien con ellos y con los chiquitos.
Te cuento también que estoy viendo la posibilidad de quedarme a estudiar en la universidad, lo que quería preguntarles era si los trámites los hago con ustedes o los veo acá con las misma universidad. Lo que pasa es que antes de venirme Giancarlo me sugirió que me llevara ya lista la aplicación de la universidad, pero como mis papeles salieron con tanto apuro y mi pasaporte llego casi a ultima hora, ya no tuvimos tiempo de ver eso, así que te agradecería que me orientaras un poco en como debo hacer mis tramites.

Hola desde Fremantle Estamos muy bien, esta ciudad es muy linda y la gente nos ha tratado muy bien. En la universidad las cosas van bien, hoy entregue el formulario para ver si me eximen de otra materia (ya me eximieron de desarrollo evolutivo y ahora quiero ver si me eximen de métodos de investigación) porque ya ví esas materias en pregrado y por mucho mas del doble del tiempo que se ven acá. Estamos buscando un cuarto para cambiarnos tan pronto sea posible, porque en el homestay no nos sentimos muy cómodos (poca privacidad y vivir con los papas después de casados es como duro).De precios, la cosa es como Colombia en los sitios caros, así que no nos ha dado duro la cosa del dinero. Sandra esta juiciosa estudiando ingles y ya nos acomodamos al horario, hasta hace dos días nos dormíamos como desde las 7 de la noche y nos despertábamos a las 2 y media. Como ven, para llevar menos de una semana nos hemos acomodado rápido. Muchos saludos y seguimos en contacto.

"Ya comencé las clases y me ha ido súper bien, estoy en un nivel intermedio alto y en 3 semanas me cambio al curso de propósitos académicos para comenzar mi preparación para el examen !!! El curso es súper dinámico y tengo una fluidez increíble, mis profes me palabra repetida tienen en un excelente concepto y la verdad creo que puedo dar mucho más!!! Les cuento que hay gente de todo el mundo, pero la mayoría son orientales, Europa, de la india, árabes e incluso varios sur y centro Americanos, es decir, de todo el mundo!!!! La verdad casi no conozco nada porque hasta ahora estoy ubicándome, pero voy muy bien!!! Sydney es una mezcla súper extraña de arquitectura de todo el mundo, cambia constantemente y no tiene características propias, sin embargo la población respeta las leyes y el orden es como el de Londres! En 15 días comienzo a vivir solo en un barrio para estudiantes súper cerca de la U de Sydney y tal ves a trabajar, porque la verdad pagan súper bien la hora y si consigo el trabajo que quiero, pues voy a tener otra buenísima entrada de dinero( Hay que aprovechar esas excelentes oportunidades!) Y en 15 días también, me voy de viaje, voy a ir a conocer Melbourne y a disfrutar como se debe de esta experiencia!!! Me gustaría contarles un poco mas pero ahora no puedo porque tengo que hacer una presentación para mañana y no he terminado, pero mas tarde les escribo y termino de contarles más cositas!!! El curso de Ingles en La Trobe University es de un nivel muy alto, lo cual me parece bueno, pero me ha mantenido ocupada. Sin embargo, he tenido la oportunidad de pasear por la ciudad y conocer hermosos lugares, especialmente playas como Saint Kilda y muchos otros sitios igualmente hermosos. En fin, este país es realmente maravilloso. La gente aquí es muy amable, tratan muy bien al extranjero independientemente del país de donde venga. Creo que hice la mejor elección al decidir venirme para Australia. Es un país espectacular y vale la pena vivir esta experiencia.

Solo quería escribirles para darles las gracias por todo. Es increíble ver como pasa el tiempo. Yo siento que fue hace muy poco que llegue pero la verdad es que me queda apenas el ultimo mes de clases para terminar la > maestría! Después de eso tengo que presentar un par de pruebas pero la parte dura ya esta por terminar. La Universidad de Sydney es todo un espectáculo. Es mucho más bonita de lo que me imaginé. Yo no tengo ninguna de mis clases en el campus principal, sino en uno más pequeño, pero igual de bonito y con todas las facilidades para los estudiantes. Les cuento también que conseguí trabajo. No fue fácil. Me toco buscar mucho, ir a varias entrevistas y llamar y llamar, pero al final valió la pena. Trabajo como Web Designer en una compañía que distribuye películas de cine. Hasta estrellas de Hollywood he tenido la oportunidad de conocer! Un abrazo desde Australia y ya saben que cualquier cosa que necesiten con muchísimo gusto.

Como han estado? Les cuento que todo ha salido muy bien. Este mes hay un festival en la ciudad (Brisbane River Festival) y parece que va a ser genial. "Al principio uno ve esta oportunidad muy lejos y casi imposible; pero a medida que se van reuniendo los requisitos esta es cada vez mas cercana, que de un momento a otro "pum"!! ya estás en un Airbus rumbo a un continente lleno de experiencias y desafíos nuevos. Los australianos son personas muy solidarias con todos los recién llegados, le ayudan a uno en todo, sobre todo al principio cuando uno mas lo necesita. La universidad es increíble; tiene de todo, lo único que parece le hace falta son estudiantes!. La ciudad es tranquila, segura y muy acogedora; es un lugar perfecto para practicar cualquier deporte, caminar y probar la comida de cualquier lugar del mundo. La ayuda de Latinoaustralia siempre fue incondicional, ellas trasmiten la seguridad y energía que uno necesita en todo el proceso, tanto que parece que las que viajan son ellas y no uno!!!".

Les cuento que ya estoy en la mitad del segundo term de mi MBA, hasta ahora me ha ido muy bien, para ser sincero me ha tocado estudiar mas de lo que esperaba pero eso me tiene contento, pues la inversión es considerable y aprender es lo importante. Con el ingles creo que ya estoy muy bien, el primer mes me costo un poco acostumbrarme al acento australiano pero ahora ya entiendo todo. Les cuento que ya tengo las boletas compradas para el Australian Open y el Martes de esta semana fuimos al Melbourne Cup y hasta me gane unos dólares apostando a los caballos. Victoria también nos ha gustado bastante, la verdad es que a mas o menos hora y media de Melbourne se encuentran unos lugares espectaculares y nuestra idea es poder conocer lo que mas se pueda (obviamente viajando barato, en carro y durmiendo en Caravan parks o campando).

Before I came to UQ I studied business administration for five years at the Universidad Central de Chile and my specialisation was in finance. After I graduated I worked for two years with Arthur Andersen in the auditing area and in the ADR department. After that I worked two more years in an international bank, the BBVA Bank and was in charge of the financial risk of an important number of offices in Santiago city.

I decide to study for an MBA because in Chile it is very important to have a postgraduate degree in order to reach higher positions and after I finished my undergraduate degree I always had in mind an idea to enrol in an MBA program.

I read about UQ in the newspaper, the article invited people to learn about Australia and the University of Queensland at a meeting held in the Hyatt Hotel in Santiago. After I went there I made contact with ex-UQ Chilean MBA students and people working for UQ, who helped me with everything. Basically it was the attention and good service that I received from the people from UQ in Chile that made me choose UQ. They informed me about everything I needed to make the final decision.

I arrived in Australia in January and my first impression was ‘what a hot country’. Following that I thought that city looked great, full of green areas and looked like a great place to study.

My first impression of UQ was just outstanding. There were so many buildings, sporting fields and all kinds of facilities. And because of the friendliness of the people in Brisbane my life at the beginning was even better than I expected.

My first semester of study was quite hard because of the language barrier but after a couple of weeks I got used to it and everything was better. In general the program was what I expected. When you do a postgraduate degree everything is taken deeply into consideration. Moreover, because of my work experience the subjects were highly relevant. The courses provided me with a close view of important matters that are key factors to know and apply in today’s marketplace.

Living in a different country with a different language and with people from almost every part of the world is absolutely fantastic. You can always learn something from your Australian and international classmates and friends.

If I could offer advice to other Chileans thinking about coming to UQ to study I would tell them not to hesitate. At UQ facilities are provided everywhere to make your life easier, people are really friendly and most important of all, the UQ MBA is excellent with a broad range of elective subjects and a very high level of academic staff. Furthermore the UQ campus at St Lucia is amazing. It is full of green areas and a whole range of sporting activities to choose from. Don’t think twice and come to UQ.

What are you studying in the Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning?
I am studying the Master of Urban Design. The program is aimed to be multidisciplinary, so students are encouraged to explore different fields related to the city like planning, landscaping or architecture. Last semester for example, I took a very interesting subject from the Faculty of Geography about sustainability.

What did you study before commencing your studies at the University of Melbourne , and at which institution?
I did my bachelor in architecture at the University of Los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia .
What interested you in coming to the University of Melbourne? What attracted you to the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?
I liked the flexibility in the structure of the programs that the faculty offers, thus I could focus on the topics of my interest but also explore new fields.
Since I am interested in cities, I wanted also to live in a city from which I could learn, and Melbourne is well known by its liability.
How are you finding your experience at the University so far? What are the highlights?

It has been challenging and enriching. One of the aspects I like the most is the multicultural environment of the University and the city as well. Here you can meet people from all over the world and learn from other cultures and different points of view.

What are you planning to do when you have completed your studies at Melbourne ?

I will probably go back to my country and work there. I would also love to gain some international work experience either in Australia or in some Asiatic Country.

What advice do you have for other students thinking of studying in the Faculty?
Be sure that in the faculty you will always find someone to help you to make the most of your experience at the University.

Before I cam to UQ I studied a Bachelor of Business Administration for five years at Universidad Finis Terrae in Santiago, Chile. After I graduated I worked for one year as an executive for the corporate division in the Security Bank, and after that for four years in Almacenes Paris retail company, first as a product manager and then as a business manager.

I always had the idea of doing an MBA. My first step towards attaining this goal was accumulating as much experience as possible in order to have the professional maturity to take full advantage of the MBA. For me this time was at least four years. I considered that an MBA would give me an opportunity to see business from a more mature prospective, especially after some years of experience.

I used to travel a lot for my work and one day I stopped in Australia whilst travelling through Asia. I realised that this was the country where I wanted to live. After that I started finding information about the best universities in Australia. I applied to three universities and was accepted to all of them but I chose UQ because of the city, the infrastructure and the prestige.

Having been in Australia once already I knew a little bit about what to expect when I got there. However Brisbane is very different from Sydney, smaller, easy to move, more comfortable and with better weather.

My impression of the University was excellent with great facilities, a lot of options for practising sport like tennis, soccer, and gym among others. The University is situated in a very beautiful place with great surroundings and is a huge place. I really hate small places and having classes in small close buildings. At UQ I found completely the opposite.

When I began my MBA I thought it was similar to my previous studies however the specialisation courses were very good and I felt that I really took advantage of the program after having work experience. There were many options for everybody, especially for me as I had exemptions for my previous study which gave me the opportunity of doing a second specialisation.

The best thing about coming to Australia is being here with my wife and, especially, having a baby here. Moreover it is excellent that your wife or partner has the opportunity to work full-time as an Australian whilst you have your student visa. This made things more affordable and provided my wife with an opportunity to improve her resume and there will not be a break in her career.

Whilst studying at UQ I have had a great time, made many friends, travelled, played sports (I play in a Latin American soccer team) and spent a lot of time with my wife.

Considering the cost involved (half of the price compared to the USA) and having the option for my wife to work full-time whilst you are here, Australia is the best place to take an MBA. And Brisbane is the best city in Australia whilst UQ is the top university in Brisbane.

What were you studying in the Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning?
I have recently graduated, and was studying the Master of Planning and Design - Architectural Practice and Management. I took this course because I was very interested in management generally and also management relating to architectural practice.

I believe that an architect should have a breadth and depth of knowledge that goes beyond basic design skills. The management skills that I learnt completing the Masters have proven to be extremely useful and I use them on a daily basis in my professional life.

What did you study before commencing your studies at the University of Melbourne , and at which institution?
I studied a Bachelor of Architecture at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas in Lima , Peru for 5 years. I finished with a Bachelor degree and with a professional title as an Architect after doing a thesis. My thesis project consisted of a written document and design plans for a whole project.

What interested you in coming to the University of Melbourne ? What attracted you to the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?
I was interested in doing some postgraduate study overseas and I was initially looking for a Masters degree such as MBA, which had a specific focus in Architecture. There were no prestigious universities in the USA offering such a program at the time. In fact, the only course I found which suited my requirements was being offered at Melbourne University . I knew that Melbourne University was ranked as a top institution in Australia and after doing some research I realised that the reputation of the university was excellent and that the staff were all genuine experts in their field.

How did you find your experience at the University so far? What were the highlights?
I acquired an incredible amount of knowledge completing the subjects I did in my Masters degree.

The course was not as internationally focused as I thought it would be but it was very orientated to Australia and it proved to be an excellent qualification to help me gain employment in Melbourne . It enabled me to easily transition from life as a student to life in the work force.

The highlights of my study included making wonderful friends from all over the world and having excellent teachers that helped me to excel.

What are you planning to do when you have completed your studies at Melbourne ?
I am planning to use the knowledge that I acquired to enable me to continue working successfully in the architectural field and to reach the heights of senior management some time in the future. As I enjoyed the time that I spent completing my Masters at Melbourne University and living in Melbourne, I have applied for a permanent residency in Australia. I have also continued with further study at Melbourne University.

What advice do you have for other students thinking of studying in the Faculty?
Make sure that you choose the subjects you want to undertake very carefully because you can only choose 4 subjects in one semester and there is a huge range of interesting subjects on offer.

23/08/2004 - My Background

“After completing my undergraduate degree, I had always wanted to do an MBA. I went to a German Primary and Secondary School in Argentina, so the first 18 years of my life I have spoken more German than English (which was also taught at school). So I had an "international" education, despite living in Argentina.

I studied my undergraduate degree part-time while working full-time so that I could save money to afford my overseas MBA adventure. After years of saving money. the Argentinean economy crashed and so did my
savings along with my hopes to do my MBA!!!!

At that time, knowing that it will take a couple of years to recover the money, I decided to get married, but getting married was not an impediment to the MBA.

I was accepted by all three business schools, but I decided to take the MGSM program because of its reputation, the average age of the students and the content of the program.

By the time I had received my Confirmation of Enrolment (COE), my wife was informed that she would have a position in her company's Sydney office. All was going right!!!! It was incredible to think that my wife could have a position at the same company she worked for in Argentina, but in Sydney!!!!

We arrived in Sydney the last day of May.”

Friday 3 September was my last exam for the term. After the fourth exam in a row I was exhausted. But I still managed to find enough energy to assist at Steve’s end of term party. We really had fun. I went with my wife, who met some of my MBA classmates to what was the beginning of resting my brain….but only for a week.

again at MGSM’s Social Club end of term party at Slip Inn.It was another opportunity to relax and have a drink and mix and network with both part-time and full-time MBA students. I spent all Sunday trying to recover from the two long parties we had the previous nights.

During the break I tried to discover more of this amazing city, so I headed to the Fish Markets, The Rocks, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, Paddington, Lane Cove Reserve and the Blue Mountains, including a visit to the zoo to see the kangaroos, wallabies and a koala!!!

We had an end of first term barbecue with my MBA classmates, the last Friday before the next term begins. It is incredible how fast this week went!

Now my second term has arrived, the syndicate group work and individual assignments, the long hours reading and the fascinating in-class discussions have all begun.

The first couple of weeks are relatively easy in terms of workload, but as the term progresses, the workload becomes increasingly high. Therefore, we must take advantage of these first weeks and work in advance if possible.

Yesterday, we had our beginning of second term barbecue, which is a good moment to have an informal chat with professors, classmates, partners and MGSM staff. After eating too much, I will be going to the gym on campus.

At this point in the term – week 4 – what I am learning is all starting to come together and make sense. Classes are becoming increasingly interesting and also demanding. In addition to class time, I am spending around 6 hours per day every day reading to stay aligned with

the rhythm of 4 subjects.

Study time outside of class is spent meeting up with syndicate groups, working on assignments and presentations. It is definitely a full-time MBA!

The topics covered in the lectures are very useful and applicable to real business life, they are not only theories that work in the classroom.

Being in the full-time cohort means that I spend most of my days with the same group of peers, so I have the perfect opportunity to socialise and network while working on a project or studying for a unit. Because our lectures are usually scheduled between Monday and Thursday, we do have a few hours in the week just to relax, do sport, or do nothing.

It’s not a long time though as the workload never ends. You spend your weekends studying and going through the readings for the oncoming week and examination week turns you into a zombie. You spend that week living to achieve your goals and getting the highest mark you can.

My classmates and I work on our group assignment for the Operations Management unit.

We are now into our 6th week of term - the individual assignments are due next week and the workload is getting heavier. Additionally, the syndicate group assignments and presentations must be completed and time is running out to prepare for the final examinations.

At this point in the term I’m spending extra time at night doing research, study and trying to stay ahead with my assignments.

The good thing about assignments is that we deal with real corporations and real cases which reinforce what we are studying, ensuring what we are learning does not solely come from theory. I find this a great way to be taught. My units this term include Financial Management and Human Resource Management. In the assignments for these units I was am applying the tools I have learnt to the case studies and I know they will be really useful in the ‘real world’.

01/11/2004 - Managing Stress

Lunch with my classmatesWeek 8 of term – only 2 weeks until final examinations! Life is very hectic at the moment and you really have to make time to relax in order to stay sane.

Managing stress is a personal task and everyone deals with the demands of the MBA program in different ways.

This is where good time management skills are very important. I try to make time to for sports and to eat healthy in order to remain calm in this increasingly high pressure environment. I go to the gym or go for a walk when I come home each night.

15/11/2004 - Study, Study, Study

Classmates studyingExaminations are only one week away….and what a week we are expecting! My life has turned into a repetitive wake-up, study, study, study and go to sleep a few hours, wake up and study more, cycle.

Four examinations next week and then we will be on a well earned summer holiday! Working consistently throughout the term has allowed for better preparation for the upcoming exams. In addition to individual revision, study sessions with classmates have really helped me to be as ready as possible for exams.

My wife knows that she will be a ‘MBA-widow’ for the next couple of weeks, so we just trying to look forward to the summer break – enjoying the beaches, going fishing and having a relaxing drink is only a couple of weeks away – there is light at the end of the tunnel!

07/02/2005 - Term 3 Classes

This term I am taking:

MGSM960 Information and Decision Analysis (core unit)
MGSM836 Investment Management (elective unit)
MGSM985 Business Performance Measurement and Management (elective unit)
MGSM877 Public Performance for Managers (elective unit)

My goals this term are to increase my confidence when speaking to audiences; deeply understand how to manage investments and the investment decision; and have the ability to measure performance using the correct tool for the right outcome.

Information and Decision Analysis has exposed me to the use of statistical packages and methodologies to prepare more accurate forecasts as well as teaching me to understand what is going on when looking at the results of a statistical analysis.

These tools are extremely helpful in a wide range of fields of application in which you rely on raw data. They can be used in medicine, gambling, sports etc, so no matter what industry you are working it, you will be able to use these tools to analyse and forecast.

23/02/2005 - Syndicate Group Assignments

I’m now in week 7 of term. At this point we are focused on finishing off our syndicate assignments which need to be completed by week 10.

Last Sunday my group and I finished working on the assignment for Investment Management. We were required to prepare an in-depth report recommending the appropriate investment of $1 million for a five year investment period for an investment client. This involved gaining an understanding of the investor’s wants and needs, and in order to pursue her investment goals, it was important to identify how much risk she decided to take. Based on this, we were able to develop a tailored investment plan.

I am still working on both my syndicate assignments for Business Performance Measurement Management and Information and Decision Analysis. The Information and Decision Analysis assignment involves applying statistics and quantitative methods to real business problems – this is what makes the assignment interesting – while working on the assignment, its clear that we will be able to use these newly acquired skills in the business environment.

Public Performance for Managers is one my favourite courses. Not only has my public speaking improved, but I’ve also boosted my confidence through standing in front of an audience and applying learnt tools in an impromptu debate or during an impromptu speech. It’s a situational course, so you have to go through it to discover the public speaker inside of you!

7/3/2005 - MGSM MBA - Worth the investment

Term 3 of my MBA is nearly over – I’m more than half way through my MBA. As a full-time student I’m doing 4 subjects each term. While the workload is heavy, I feel the MBA was more than worth the investment. It is not a matter of calculating the net present value of the investment in your education – for me, it has also been about the life experiences such as:

Not to mention gaining an MBA which has exposed me to new business techniques and helped me to integrate and refresh all the concepts I’d learnt during my undergraduate degree and over the last 10 years in a work environment.

The experience of living in Sydney – one of the most gorgeous cities in the world – has been fantastic! I’ve been able to enjoy the beaches during the summer, the Blue Mountains only one hour’s drive from the city, as well as discovering the rest of Australia, such as the outback and the Great Barrier Reef.

21/03/2005 - MGSM Careers Service

One of the value added services at MGSM is the careers service which helps with life after the MBA! My careers advisor helped guide me in the tedious task of getting a job. The careers department offers a range of services, from giving you advice on the Australian job market (which is extremely beneficial for international students like me!) to helping you put together your resume and careers consultations.

They also conduct workshops and on campus company presentations so we can find out more about what people and companies are like, what different organisations are looking for and network with key members of their staff, before having to decide whether to jump in and go for any of the roles they may advertise.

I was assigned a mentor (buddy) at the start of my MBA. My mentor was a recent MGSM graduate – mentors are there to help facilitate your induction process at MGSM and share their experiences with you. It is due to the friendliness and helpfulness of MGSM staff and my mentor that I was able to focus on studying and not worry about administration details which have helped me a great deal.

17/04/2005 - MGSM Ball

I was delighted to attend the 2005 MGSM Ball held at Curzon Hall. During the reception we had the opportunity to share a drink and network with both part-time and full-time MBA students and have some fun.

Both the three course dinner and the entertainment were great – particularly the magician who was able to magically extract a bra out of my wife’s dress (the joke was on him when my wife informed him she wasn’t wearing a bra in the first place!!).

The worst part of the night was watching names being pulled out of a basket with people winning prizes – unfortunately, my name was not drawn – bad luck!

After dinner we danced a little bit, the party was only getting started, with many heading to the after party, held at the Establishment in the city, where we continued to dance and chat with fellow students.

It was a great night and I would like to thank the organisers for the beautiful night we all had – thanks!

The next big social event will be the MGSM Dinner held on May 27th – I’m looking forward to socialising with everybody again.

02/05/2005 - The final term of my MBA

The fun is over, now it is time for me to focus for the next six weeks – I’m nearly halfway through the final term of my MBA. I have to juggle nine individual assignments and five syndicate group assignments which I must complete before final examinations. It promises to be a hectic time.

Although for the next few weeks I will have a hard time, I am also beginning to experience a mix of emotions – I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with my MBA almost completed.

It's hard to imagine that one year has passed so fast! Some of the friends I have made over the last 12 months and worked with in classes and syndicate groups will be going back to their respective countries and I’m not sure if I will see them again.

My wife, Florencia, flew to Buenos Aires last Friday, so I will spend the next 14 days trying to survive without her! In my next post, Florencia will write a few words about her experiences as a partner of a full-time MBA student and moving to a new country.

10/01/2005 - Moving to Sydney

Moving to the other side of the world is a big undertaking. Applying for a visa, organising the move and a 20 hour flight are just the beginning...I felt the biggest challenge was finding an apartment.

Before coming to Australia, I was warned about the dangerous wildlife – poisonous spiders, snakes, etc. The most dangerous species that I have come across so far would have to be the Real Estate Agent! It takes practice, but now I know how to handle this species and I've found a wonderful place to live in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

After the first few stressful weeks of settling in, I was able to enjoy this wonderful city. Sydney is just gorgeous. The harbour, the beaches, the restaurants, the cafes and the bars on offer are great. Sydneysiders are very helpful and friendly (except real estate agents!), it is impressive how interested they are in where you are from and why you are here. They take the time to speak with you and offer their help.

The scenery is breathtaking. Being part of the Eastern Suburbs set is like a religion – we love our beaches (for example, Bronte and Shark Bay), whereas those living in the Northern Suburbs prefer their beaches (that being said, my girlfriend and I are looking forward to heading north and exploring the famous Palm Beach if we get the time).

I’m looking forward to my time in Sydney and I’m sure I will have a great time in the one of the world’s best cities.

31/01/2005 - Why an MBA? Why MGSM?
Deciding to undertake an MBA was a big decision that required careful consideration. An ambition of mine is to achieve management status in a multinational organisation. I realised to accomplish this I would need to consolidate my skills - key methods, strategic concepts and experience - so they are relevant in an international context.

I am positive the MGSM MBA will give me the opportunity to acquire professional, strategic and personal skills appropriate to management responsibilities at an international standard, thus enabling me to become qualified for a senior management role.

Why did I choose MGSM? The following criteria were important to me when deciding on a business school:

Based on my own research (via business magazines, newspapers and the internet), it was clear that MGSM was the best business school when it came to fulfilling all of the above requirements.

28/03/2005 - Feeling the pressure

The first term of my MBA is history!

I now have one week to recover from the immense pressure from the last three weeks. Study required my complete attention when it came to preparing for the final exams for the first term. I had considerably less sleep and was totally exhausted by the end of it.

The last week of term one really tough - I had to find an optimal balance between investing time for finishing several group assignments and the preparation for the final exams. Right now I am more than happy that it is over – at least for one week.

02/04/2005 - The HunterValley - a perfect location for recreation

My partner Michelle and I decided to explore the Hunter Valley, just 120 minutes drive north of Sydney. The hardest decision you'll have to make here is which direction to turn first. Do you opt for world class wine and vineyards, awe-inspiring wilderness, spectacular coastline or picturesque countryside?

A friend of mine recommended us a beautiful, small and very calm lodge called The Noble Domain, which is completely surrounded by bushland and shut off from the rest of the world. Each of the 8 charming theme rooms (we stayed in the golf room) are facing a small lake. The perfect location for recreation! We explored the upper hunter valley which is very well known for its horse breeding and of course the lower hunter valley with its beautiful vineyards, cellar doors and restaurants. On the way back we made also a short stop over in Australia's sixth largest city Newcastle.
